LEARNING TO PRAY A REFRESHING PRAYER—Day 4 (Thursday)

  • 2 min read

(a continuation of Hannah’s refreshing prayer from Day 3)

1 Samuel 2:6-10

“The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up. The Lord

makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and He has set the world upon them. He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked shall be silent in darkness. For by strength no man shall prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to His king, and exalt the horn of His anointed.”

When I realize the Lord is in control of my life and praise Him for it, my heart turns from blame and pity to thankfulness and blessing.

The Lord is responsible for life He brings down to the grave and brings up. He creates, brings new life into the world, and is present when it’s time for life on this earth to cease.

The Lord is responsible for blessingHe raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the ash heap to make them inherit the throne of glory.

The Lord is responsible for my journeyHe will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked sit silent in darkness.

The Lord is responsible for my adversariesThey shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He shall thunder against Him.

The Lord is responsible for judgingHe will give strength to the king and exalt His anointed.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: When my heart is filled with blame because things don’t go my way, God knows it and is there to comfort me. His goal is not necessarily to give me my way, but to guide me on His path.

I can choose to live for today and be miserable, or I can live for tomorrow and be joyful. When I praise the Lord every day for His blessings with refreshing prayer, it is uplifting to my heart and soul. This refreshing prayer will allow me to experience joy today about what He will reveal to me tomorrow.

Lord, tomorrow is another day, and I can’t wait to see what You have in store for me! Amen.

May you be blessed,
