Ephesians 1:3-6
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
A refreshing prayer will allow me to understand:
His blessing: If I’m waiting to receive a blessing from God, I need to understand that I’m already blessed. Because God accepted me in Christ, I have received every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places: the gift of the Holy Spirit, who breathes into my soul and gives me life.
His choice: God chose me in Christ before I was ever born, so that I could be holy and without blame before Him in love. In doing so, He pursued me to follow Him and seek His perfect will in my life.
His adoption: God desired to bring me into relationship with Himself, thereby adopting me as His child by Jesus Christ.
His acceptance: In the Beloved (Christ), He accepts me to the praise of the glory of His grace. God gave a lot of grace to accept me as His child!
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: What each of these have in common is Jesus Christ. If Jesus didn’t dwell in me, I wouldn’t be blessed, chosen, adopted, or accepted. With Him, I’m all of these.
Think about it. God already made up His mind to adopt children before He created them. He decided and chose that He would make them holy. After I was created, I was adopted into His family, with the Holy Spirit entering my heart as the promise of my salvation.
This prayer is refreshing because it confirms who I am in Christ. It also confirms God’s purpose in my life. When I realize His purpose, I choose to seek Him in all things, so He can continue to fulfill His purpose in me.
Lord, please continue to allow me to feel Your blessing daily. Continue to remind me that You are my Heavenly Father, and You chose me to be Your child. Let me bathe in the glory of the grace You showed by adopting me! Amen.
May you be blessed,
