PEACE REIGNS IN GIVING THANKS

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

What is ruling my heart today: the peace of Christ or my desire to have everything my own way?

Jesus Teaches Me to Let His Peace Rule

When I give thanks to God, I begin remembering who is caring for me. My Father knows my needs. Jesus has made me His own. The Holy Spirit lives within me. I have reasons to be thankful even before I know how my circumstances will turn out.

Paul tells me to let the peace of Christ rule in my heart. That word rule makes me consider who has the final say in my life. Do I allow fear to make my decisions? Do I allow anger to shape my words? As I surrender to Jesus, He teaches me to bring those feelings to Him and follow His direction.

His Peace Changes My Relationships

This verse also reminds me that I belong to one body. The peace Jesus gives me is meant to affect the way I treat His people. I cannot keep thanking Him for His mercy while refusing to consider how I might show that mercy to someone else.

Forgiveness begins when I remember how much Jesus has forgiven me. A hurt may take time to heal, but I can ask Him to help me release bitterness and take the next faithful step toward peace.

Accountability becomes a blessing when I am willing to receive loving correction. God may use another believer to show me something I have overlooked. I want to listen with a teachable heart.

Humility helps me put service ahead of having my own way. Jesus teaches me to care about the person in front of me, even when our opinions differ.

Giving Thanks Helps Me Surrender

I do not create peace by controlling everyone around me. I learn to live in His peace as I place my own heart under His care. I want the response of my heart to reflect Jesus.

Today I can thank God for a person I have found difficult to love. I can ask forgiveness for a careless word. I can listen before defending myself. These are places where the peace of Jesus Christ can become visible in my life.

Reflect

1. What feeling or desire have I allowed to rule my heart?

2. How could gratitude help me take a step toward forgiveness, accountability, or humility today?

Prayer

Father, thank You for making me Your child. Jesus, let Your peace rule my heart and shape the way I treat others. Holy Spirit, help me receive correction, forgive with grace, and serve with humility. Teach me to give thanks as I trust You with my relationships. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
