DENYING MYSELF BY WAITING ON THE LORD

This week, I am exploring what God says about setting my mind on things above. As I enter prayer now, I reflect on God’s instruction: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
Lord, I desire to focus on You. Allow my mind
to be transformed by the reading of Your Word.
Let me consider the Word of God from Psalm 27:1,4-8,13-14:
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
There is no denying that I am impatient. But when my impatience turns into disobedience, that will cause me strife every time.
The Lord created patience as a fruit of the Spirit for a reason; He knew it was something I did not possess and that He would have to supply.
Lord, please grant me the fruit of patience as I desperately need it. Thank You for continuing to give me the fruits that I need to glorify Your name.
I don’t need to fear circumstances or individuals in the day of trouble; the Lord keeps me safe and hides me in His perfect timing and in His perfect will.
I am confident the Lord will reveal His goodness and I will witness His will unfold. I will wait for the Lord; I will be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Lord, please bless me as I wait for You in my day of trouble. I wait for You to guide and direct my heart to do the things You have called me to do.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
