THE BIRTH OF CHRIST

DAY 15: THE BIRTH OF CHRIST: The Word Made Flesh

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.  Luke 2:6–7

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  John 1:14

After centuries of silence, God spoke again; this time, not through prophets or angels, but through His Son. In a quiet stable in Bethlehem, under the cover of night, the Creator entered His creation. The Word who had spoken worlds into existence became a fragile infant, born not in a palace, but in a manger.

Every prophecy, every promise, every longing of the human heart found its fulfillment that night. The Messiah: the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, arrived not with fanfare, but in humility. Heaven’s glory was wrapped in swaddling cloths. The infinite took on the finite, so that humanity could finally see, touch, and know the love of God.

John’s Gospel captures the wonder of this moment: “The Word became flesh.” The same God who once dwelled among His people in a temple now dwells among us through Jesus Christ. He is Immanuel, God with us. His coming wasn’t just an event in history; it was the arrival of Hope itself.

The manger reminds us that God often works in hidden, humble places. When life feels overlooked or ordinary, we can remember that the Savior of the world was born in the simplest of settings, and yet, through Him, light broke into darkness and joy into despair.

The birth of Christ invites me to welcome Him anew into my life. Just as there was no room for Him in the inn, I must ask: Is there room for Him in my heart?

Reflect:

  • Do I recognize God’s glory in life’s humble moments?

  • How can I make more space for Christ in my daily life?

Lord Jesus, thank You for humbling Yourself to be born among us. You left heaven’s glory to dwell in our broken world and bring light to our darkness. May my heart be Your dwelling place this Christmas. Fill me with Your peace, and let Your presence shine through me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
