DAY 4: THE PROPHECY OF THE SAVIOR: The Child Who Will Reign Forever
For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6–7
It is difficult to grasp eternity—whether past or future—yet God’s plan for salvation has always been eternal. Seven hundred years before Christ’s birth, the prophet Isaiah was given a vision of God’s perfect redemption plan: a child would be born, a Son would be given, and through Him the world would find peace.
This child was no ordinary baby. He would carry the weight of the world’s government upon His shoulders, establishing a kingdom built on righteousness and justice. His names reveal His divine nature and eternal purpose: Wonderful Counselor—our source of wisdom and comfort; Mighty God—the all-powerful Lord; Everlasting Father—the One who loves without end; and Prince of Peace—the ruler whose reign brings reconciliation between God and man.
Isaiah’s world was divided and dark, much like ours today. Yet amid political unrest and spiritual decline, God promised a Savior who would reign forever. That promise was fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ. While earthly rulers rise and fall, His kingdom stands unshaken, and His peace endures without end.
We live in a world often ruled by chaos, fear, and division. But Isaiah’s prophecy reminds us that Jesus’ government—His divine order of peace and justice—will never fail. God’s zeal guarantees the fulfillment of His promises.
When I place my trust in the Savior, I step into that eternal kingdom, experiencing peace that surpasses understanding. I may not comprehend eternity, but I can live daily in the assurance that the Prince of Peace reigns now and forever.
Reflect:
Do I allow Jesus to rule as Prince of Peace in my heart?
How can I share His peace with others today?
Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ—the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Let His peace reign in my heart and guide my life today. I praise You for Your eternal plan and for the Savior who fulfills it. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
