THURSDAY: LEAD ME TO JESUS

Matthew 2:7-12

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Herod knew many people in high places. He pursued the Magi, considered to be of the Chaldeans, wise men from Persia who had historically been advisors to kings since the time of Daniel. Herod told them to go to Bethlehem, where the Messiah was prophesied to be born. He instructed them to report back to him, saying he wanted to worship the new king. In reality, Herod desired to kill the Child he deemed to be a threat to his throne.

The Magi had a Divine GPS in the form of a brilliant star, that led them straight to the place where Jesus was. When they found Him, they bowed and worshiped Him and presented offerings of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

I get to talk to Jesus every day and to go to the place where He resides in my heart. When I seek Jesus, I should bow down and offer Him what He desires most: myself.

This offering is above all others. To give one’s life is the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus gave His life, so I can live, for this reason I offer my life to Jesus. To offer my life is to allow Him to enter my heart and watch over my life, to give me direction, to guide me in His will and His way, and to work through me, so I can reach others for Him.

God, thank You for blessing the Magi by leading them to Jesus, so they could bow down and worship Him. Let me do no less. Amen.

May you be blessed,
