TUESDAY: WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?

Ecclesiastes 3:9-15
What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him. That which is has already been, and what is to be has already been; and God requires an account of what is past.
I have a God-given task with which I am to be occupied. Am I busy doing it? Do I even know what it is? If I look for God’s beauty, I know I’m on the right track. If I look beyond this world into eternity, I know that’s in His plan.
I know I cannot find the work God does from beginning to end, but I also know He will show me the next step. The next step is something better—there is nothing better for me to do than to rejoice, to do good in my life, and to enjoy the good of all my labor—this is the gift of God.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
Since God wants me to rejoice in Him, then I should do it all the time. God wants me to do good—what is good and pleasing to Him—so I will enjoy the good of all my labor. I notice that good is an “action” word, or something I must do to find purpose and fulfillment in my life.
Doing good includes looking up by looking to Him for answers in life. Doing good includes looking after others who God has put in my path. Doing good means looking beyond this life, so I can see His purpose for my eternal life.
How often do I try to add something to my life in order to enjoy it? When I try to take control of my life, then what I try to add or take away causes me frustration and anxiety. However, when God adds or takes away from my life, then I feel peace and contentment knowing He is doing it lovingly and for my good. Which do I think is better for me?
I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. I should not fear the future because the future is in God’s hands. I want what He wants for my life.
Lord, thank You for the blessing of knowing my future is in Your hands. I can trust You with what is yet to be. Amen.
May you be blessed,
