Proverbs 8:1-12

8 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? 2 At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; 3 beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud:

4 “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it. 6 Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness. 8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge. 10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Today I am receiving a call from Wisdom. Personified as a female, she raises her voice so I can clearly hear her words.

Wisdom takes her stand where the paths meet—in the crossroads of my most difficult decisions is where I will find her. She is at the gate of the city (where decisions are made). She cries out not just to me, but to all mankind. Here is her message:

If I’m simple, she instructs to gain prudence; if I’m foolish, I will set my heart on my foolishness.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

Wisdom states that she is trustworthy, and she speaks what is right. Her mouth can only speak what is true—her lips detest wickedness. All the words she speaks are just; none are crooked or perverse. Wisdom asks that I choose her instruction and knowledge instead of silver and gold. She is more precious than rubies, and nothing I desire can compare with her.

If I have one desire, it is to have wisdom and knowledge from God. This is one of my most valuable assets. Unlike gold, silver and rubies, I cannot hold wisdom in my hand, but I can retain it in my head and in my heart.

Lord, thank You for Your Wisdom which comes through the Holy Spirit. Continue to fill me with wisdom and knowledge and show me Your ways. Amen.

May you be blessed,
