THINK ABOUT WHATEVER IS ADMIRABLE

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 

What is admirable is not always what is impressive.  It is what reflects Jesus. 

The world often defines what is worthy of admiration by success, influence and recognition. But Scripture points me in a different direction. It calls me to notice lives, words, and actions that quietly honor Christ. 

Paul says whatever I do, in word or deed, is meant to be done in the name of the Lord Jesus. That means what is admirable is not limited to big moments or public faith. It is found in ordinary obedience and faithful service and done with a grateful heart. 

Admiration begins in my thinking. What I dwell on shapes what I value. And what I value shapes how I live. 

When I think about what is admirable, I am reminded that gratitude and obedience go hand in hand. A thankful heart recognizes God at work. It notices His grace in everyday places. It learns to speak of what reflects Him instead of criticizing what falls short. 

Jesus lived a life that was fully admirable, not because He sought attention, but because everything He did pointed to the Father. His words healed. His actions restored. His obedience glorified God. And He did it all with humility. 

Thinking about what is admirable trains my heart to see faithfulness instead of finding fault. It shifts my focus from what irritates me to what inspires me. It helps me recognize Christ in others and affirm it with grace. 

What I admire eventually becomes what I imitate. So today, I slow my thoughts. I consider my words. I examine my actions. I ask, do these reflect Jesus? Do these give thanks to God?  Do these honor Him? And I choose to think about whatever is admirable.

3. When can I show gratitude to help me recognize what is truly admirable? 

Lord, I want my life to reflect You. Help me to think about what is admirable and worthy of praise. Shape my words and actions so they honor Your name and give thanks to the Father. Teach me to notice Your grace at work and to live with a heart of gratitude and obedience. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
