THINK ABOUT WHATEVER IS PURE

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 

Purity is not about perfection; it is about surrender. 

The world often treats purity as something outdated or unrealistic, something reserved for the naïve. But Scripture speaks of purity as a gift God creates, not a standard I must somehow achieve on my own. 

When I think about what is pure, I am reminded that Jesus is where purity begins, and my heart is the place where He desires purity to live. My thoughts shape my desires, and my desires shape my actions. And when my heart becomes cluttered with compromise, distractions or hidden sin, my spiritual vision grows cloudy. 

David did not ask God to help him try harder. He asked God to create something new within him. That tells me purity is not something I define; it is God-given. 

There are moments when I become more focused on managing appearances than tending my heart. I learn how to behave in my outward appearance while ignoring what is stirring inside my heart. But Jesus is never interested in surface-level obedience. He wants my heart. 

Purity invites me to bring everything into the light. My thoughts. My motives. My desires. Not so I can be ashamed but so I can be healed. A pure heart is not an empty heart; it is a heart filled with God. Filled with His Word. Filled with His presence. Filled with His Spirit. And as God cleanses my heart, He renews my spirit, restoring joy, clarity, and peace. 

When I think on what is pure, I am choosing to guard what enters my mind and what influences my heart. I am choosing to let God refine me instead of hiding from Him. Purity aligns my thoughts with His and keeps my soul sensitive to the voice of God. 

So today, I come honestly before the Lord. I ask Him to cleanse what has become crowded. I invite Him to renew what has grown weary. And I think about whatever is pure.

1. What thoughts and influences are cluttering my heart right now? 

2. What things does God want me to bring into His light so He can heal and restore? 

3. How can I guard my heart and mind today against impure things, and allow God to create in me a pure heart and mind? 

Lord, You are pure and holy. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Wash my thoughts, my desires, and my motives. Remove anything that does not honor You and fill me instead with Your presence and Your truth. I want my life to reflect Your holiness and Your love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
