TUESDAY: ONE CLOSE RELATIONSHIP

Luke 2:36-38

There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

Anna had been living alone most of her life. She became a widow at a very young age and lived to a very old age. However, while she was alone, she wasn’t lonely. She lived in God’s house, ate in God’s house, talked to God, and worshiped Him all the time.

This was a special day. She knew this day would come, but unlike Simeon, she had not been told she would live to see it.

Today was the day she met Jesus. Joseph and Mary brought the newborn infant to the temple, and she knew instantly who He was.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

How did Anna know who Jesus was? When you spend that much time with God the Father, you will also know His Son.

Jesus said, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30) and “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me” (John 14:11). When we know the Father, we also know the Son. Anna knew God so well that she recognized His Son instantly, as the Father revealed His Son Jesus to her.

I can also get to know God so well that Jesus will instantly be revealed to me. Through His grace and mercy, this is what God desires for me: to know Him and to know His Son Jesus. The Holy Spirit serves as my guide to facilitate this close relationship.

Lord, thank You for allowing me to have a close relationship with You. I want our relationship to become closer each day. Amen.
