A WORD OF HOPE (Thursday)

Psalm 33:1-7,10-11,18-22

Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the harp; make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy.

For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses.

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name.

Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in You.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made; He spoke, and they became by the breath of His mouth. As He spoke, the waters of the sea gathered together.

By His love, we exist; by His righteousness, He gives us His Word. The Word of the Lord is right, and His work is done in truth.

God’s Word delivers righteousness and justice to His creation; the earth is full of His goodness. The nations believe their counsel has worth; the people believe their plans have effect. But the counsel of the Lord that stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations, as it is revealed in His Word.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

If my plans are of no effect, I need to stop thinking so much. God knows the plans He has for me (Jer. 29:11), so I should seek Him for His plans before I start thinking about mine. God’s Word outlines His plan for humanity—to deliver those who hope in His mercy from death. Since God is all-knowing, my soul needs to wait on Him; He is my help and my shield.

Lord, please allow my heart to rejoice in You, for I have trusted in Your holy name. I hope in You, please speak through Your Word to me. Amen
