John 5:31;36-44
31 “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. 32 There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life. 41 “I do not accept glory from human beings, 42 but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44 How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?
The testimony of the One True Father of His Only Begotten Son reflects the Light of the World shining brightly. Indeed, Jesus testifies to the works of the Father, and the Father testifies about His Son which He sent to all mankind.
The One the Father sent, Jesus Christ, allows me to hear His voice and have His word dwell in me. Studying the Scriptures do not give me eternal life, but believing in the One they testify about will. In order to have life, I have to come to Jesus.
In coming to Jesus, He leads me into relationship with Him, so that I know Him as my personal Lord and Savior.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
In my relationship with Jesus, He knows me and I know Him. I testify about Jesus to others, and Jesus testifies about me to His Father. I seek the glory that comes from the only God; it is in Him that I believe.
The word of the Father dwells in me because I believe in the One He sent. It is about Him the Scriptures testify; it is through Him that I have eternal life.
When I see the works that Jesus does, they testify that He is from the Father. It is through Him that I have the love of God in my heart.
Many people will point to works and believe that their works testify about God. However, this is only true if He is the One who gave us the works to do, and if we do these works in His name. If they are, then the works are of Him.
Lord, thank You for all the works You do in my heart that testify about You. Thank You for the works of my hands that I do in Your name. Amen.
May you be blessed,
