I CONFESS THAT I'M FOOLISH

This week, I am exploring what God says about CONFESSION.  As I enter prayer now, I reflect on God’s instruction, “’I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.’ And You forgave the guilt of my sin.”

Lord, teach me today about confession.  I desire

to be obedient to the grace You give to me,

so my heart can be full of Your Holy Spirit.

Let me consider the Word of God from Psalm 107:17-22:

Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.

I confess that I can be foolish sometimes.  Whenever I let my guard down and begin to doubt that God is doing what is best for me, I am foolish in my heart.  That’s because I become deceived into thinking that God’s purpose is for me to be happy.

In fact, I have his purpose backwards while I’m thinking these thoughts: God desires to make me holy, and He also desires to consider His name blessed.  My confusion begins the moment I think that I should be blessed instead of Him.

It is during these times that I confess my foolishness because of my rebellious ways, from which I suffer affliction.  My greater affliction comes from taking my eyes off Jesus and going my own prideful way.

Lord, I confess I can be really foolish sometimes.  I turn my life over to You

so that You can wash away this iniquity from my heart.

There are many times I cry out to God in my distress with repentance.  God loves when I repent, because then the relationship is restored back to Him being in control, and me submitting to His authority.  He has healed and rescued me many times after I have fallen, and to Him I give thanks.

The Lord blesses me with His unfailing love; His kindness transcends this earth and brings me closer to Him.  He tranforms my heart, and allows me to see how He is working in my life after I cry out to Him.

Lord, thank You for the many blessings You have given me.  Thank You for being a caring and loving God, keeping me on Your path, and disciplining me when I stray from Your path.

You are an awesome God! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
