Monday: An Invitation to Abundant Life-Part 1

Isaiah 55:1-2

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.

As I think I about thirst, it’s something I do often. In fact, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t thirst. Considering that, this message is for me and everyone I know.

The invitation for the thirsty is to come to the waters. The waters are cool and refreshing, and can quench my thirst.

Additionally, those who have no money are also invited to come, buy and eat. Coming forward is easy, but how can I buy without money? How can I eat without money to purchase food?

I spend my money for what is not bread, and my wages for what does not satisfy. What does this profit me?

Isaiah’s word suggests that I listen carefully. I can eat what is good, and my soul shall delight in abundance and be filled.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

Whenever I read the word “good,” I often replace it with the word “holy.” I know that there is only One who is good, and He is the only Holy One. Because He is good, I know that I am not.

When I humble myself before Him, I learn that my soul delights in worshiping Him. I can’t get enough of rejoicing and praising His name.

There are many things I can spend money on, but there is also one thing that is priceless. I could never afford what Jesus has, yet He chooses to give Himself to me, without charge and without cost.

He is the Daily Bread that I have been called to eat, and the Living Water I have been called to drink. He alone will satisfy my soul, and all I want is Him.

Lord, thank You for providing for all my needs. You saw me in my desperate plight, and You called me to You. Now I can enjoy the blessing of You always, and I thank You from the bottom of my heart. Amen.

May you be blessed,
