MONDAY: THE ROAD TO BELIEF

Lord, what are your desires for me today? I feel like I’m being pulled in many different directions, but in truth I only want to know what You want me to do.
Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
The Lord has specific desires for me, just like He had for the nation of Israel. His desires for both seem very similar!
Since God is the Holy One, the Creator, and Lord of all, I am to give Him total respect and honor. Every time I come into His presence, I do so with a humble heart, knowing that He is the One who can shape and mold my life into anything He desires for me if I have surrendered my heart to Him.
With this surrender comes obedience. If I pledge to join a team, I agree to play by their rules, live up to their mission, accomplish their vision, and live by their values. In God’s Kingdom, I pledge to live by His rules, accomplish His mission, and live out His values, then I can achieve His vision for my life.
The Lord also requires love; he doesn’t desire me to walk in obedience like a servant. He loves me as my Heavenly Father, and He desires that I return His love like His child. With that love comes gratitude with service: to serve Him with all my heart and with all my soul by submitting my will and giving my love to Him. He transforms my life, not because I deserve it, but because He loves me.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: If I obey God, then it shows I trust Him. If I trust Him, then it shows I believe He is what is good for my life. If I believe in Him, I can’t help but love Him—not just a little—but with all my heart and all my soul.
Since He has provided this list of commands and decrees for me today, I should be thankful, receive them gladly, and implement each one in my life. It is not the faint who obey, but the bold and courageous. Those who possess faith in God also receive from Him the courage to live out that faith every day. Without faith, I am lost and confused, and in such a state I can’t say I am serving the Lord with all my heart and my soul.
Lord, help me remember your commands today. Help me see that submitting my life to You means You are in charge, and following You means You are leading the way. Thank You, Lord, for Your clear instructions for me today!
May you be blessed,
