SOLITUDE IS MAKING GOD MY DWELLING

This week, I am exploring what God says about SOLITUDE. As I enter prayer now, I reflect on God’s instruction: “Be still and know that I am God.”
Lord, teach me today about getting alone to listen to You.
I desire to receive Your instruction
and share it with others in my life.
Let me consider the words of God from Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16:
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name, He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
If I’m dwelling with God, I will rest in His shadow. Imagine that! But how do I dwell with God? The psalmist says that I will trust in the LORD and declare Him to be my refuge and fortress. A refuge is a place of safety, and a fortress is a place of protection.
When I’m dwelling with God, He protects me and guards me in all my ways. When I’m dwelling with God, He will do things I thought were impossible, such as trampling the lion and the cobra.
God will protect me because He loves me, but also because I love and obey Him and acknowledge Him as LORD of my life.
Lord, I will call on you, and you answer me. You are with me in times of trouble, and You will deliver me. Thank You for showing me Your salvation.
I don’t know what God will do next in my life or how He might deliver me from my troubles, but I will trust in Him so that I can dwell in Him and rest in His shadow.
Lord, I will continually sing your praises and acknowledge You as LORD of my life.
Please help me to learn to dwell in Your shadow.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
