SOLITUDE IS THIRSTING FOR GOD

This week, I am exploring what God says about SOLITUDE. As I enter prayer now, I reflect on God’s instruction: “Be still and know that I am God.”

Lord, teach me today about getting alone to listen to You. I desire to receive Your instruction

and share it with others in my life.

Let me consider the words of God from Psalm 63:1-4:

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

If I’m going to pursue God, I need to realize who He is and how intently He wants me to seek Him.  I long for God so much that my whole being thirsts for Him.

The trouble is, with God in heaven and me on earth, my thirst can’t be quenched unless He comes to me.  Not only has God quenched my thirst through His Son, Jesus Christ, but He comes to dwell in my heart through the Holy Spirit.

I am indeed blessed to know I have beheld the power and glory of the Lord.  His love is better than life, so I will glorify Him as long as I live.

Lord, thank You for quenching the my thirst and blessing me with Your presence and your glory.

There’s not much on this earth to be excited about, but when I think about Heaven on earth, I think about Jesus.

Jesus came to bring Heaven to earth, and to reclaim my life, which was His in the first place.  Through the shedding of His blood He paid the price to return me to Heaven with Him.

Lord, thank You for blessing me with solitude, allowing me to commune with You here on earth,

so that I may be blessed in our Heavenly home.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
