TALKING WITH GOD DAILY

Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 3 What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.” Luke 12:1-3
Jesus warned the disciples that the thing that will sneak in and steal my time with God is hypocrisy. It comes in slowly and can saturate everything I do.
I may think that what I do in private or what I say to another person in a text or email will remain private, but I should always be on my guard by speaking forthrightly in truth and honesty, not gossiping or slandering another. My motives are also being observed—what I may conspire to get others to do or manipulations I may make to get my way. I want to be above board in my motives so that my character is not blemished. Finally, what I think is also examined, as God knows my thoughts.
I should remember that things that I want to hide are not always going to be hidden; God will cast a light upon them so that the truth is revealed. Why does God want to reveal the truth? To make my actions righteous, to make my motives clean and to make my thoughts pure.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: I don’t want to hide something away from someone when I know it is wrong—the Holy Spirit knows what is hidden and will reveal it.
When I try to hide the truth from everyone, including the Holy Spirit, I am only deceiving myself and also being a hypocrite—hiding is something that I should know better than to do.
I want to get to know the Holy Spirit and let Him be my Guide and Teacher, not my adversary. He will help me in all that I do and say. Now when they bring me to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what I should answer, or what I should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach me in that very hour what you ought to say.
Lord, please guide me to live a life with clean thoughts, clear motives and pure actions, so others can see You at work in my life. Amen.
