THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD’S WORD

A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?”  “All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.  The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass.  The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”  You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!”  See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and He rules with a mighty arm. See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him.  He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young.  Isaiah 40:6-11

The Word of our God endures forever because of Who He is.  I am like grass that withers; my faithfulness is like the fleeting bloom of flowers in the field.

The Good News of God’s Word proclaims His unwavering faithfulness to me.  The Good News of His Word lifts up His name, and shouts “Here is your God.”  The Good News is great news…here is God, and He is mine!

The Good News of God’s Word proclaims that my Sovereign Lord comes with power.  He rules with a mighty arm.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

The reward God brings is not for anything I have achieved, but for everything He has achieved for me.  He gave His Son so my sins could be forgiven and offered me eternal life.

He is the Good Shepherd and tends His flock.  When a lamb strays or is wounded, He gathers the lamb in His arms and carries them close to His heart, guiding it back among the sheep.

The Word of God proclaims His shepherding nature, and I carry His Word close to my heart.  When I stray or am wounded, I can pick up His Word and rejoice in what God has done for me!

The Word of God proclaims His power and sovereignty.  His power is at work in my life, and I ask His blessing on all He is yet to accomplish in and through me.

Lord, thank You for Your Word.  You give me life, and Your Word gives me guidance, wisdom, and understanding.  Help me to enjoy Your Word all the days of my life.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
