Isaiah 40:6-11
A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?”
“All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
The Word of our God endures forever because of Who He is. I am like grass and will wither. My faithfulness is like the flowers of the field, which fall.
The Good News of God’s Word proclaims His faithfulness to me. The Good News of His Word lifts up His name, and shouts “Here is your God.” The Good News is great news…here is God, and He is mine!
The Good News of God’s Word proclaims that my Sovereign Lord comes with power. He rules with a mighty arm.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
The reward God brings is not for anything I have achieved, but for everything He has achieved on my behalf. He gave His Son, so my sins could be forgiven. Because He forgave my sin, He offers me eternal life.
He is the Good Shepherd and tends His flock like a shepherd. When a lamb strays or is wounded, He gathers the lamb in His arms and carries them close to His herd.
The Word of God proclaims His shepherding nature, and I should carry His Word close to my heart. When I stray or am wounded, I should pick up His Word and rejoice in what God has done for me!
The Word of God proclaims His power and sovereignty. His power is at work in my life, and I ask His blessing on all that He is about to do.
What a joy it is to revel in the Word of God. I can’t get enough of it and want to have more!
Lord, thank You for Your Word. You give me life, and Your Word gives me guidance, wisdom, and understanding. Help me to enjoy Your Word all the days of my life. Amen.
May you be blessed,
