THE MOST EXCELLENT WAY (Monday)

1 Corinthians 12:31-13:3
And yet I will show you the most excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
I’ve been looking for the right way, and here the Apostle Paul says that he will show it to me: I will show you the most excellent way.
If God gives me the gift of speaking in the tongue of an angel, I will be able to inspire others. But if I don’t do this with love, no one will hear my words. What they will hear instead are words without love: it will be like a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If God gives me the gift of prophecy, in which I can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, I can explain God’s Kingdom to many people. But if I convey this without love, no one will care.
If God gives me the gift of faith, in which I can move mountains, I can increase the faith of many and bring others to faith as well. But if I don’t share this in love, then I am nothing to them.
If God gives me the gift of contributing to the needs of the poor, I can help many people. But if I do this without love, but instead so that I may boast, then I gain nothing.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: God has given me a spiritual gift to use for His glory. The main method for using this gift is love: I must be willing to use it for others.
Every time I try to use this gift for myself, I will fall flat and gain nothing. That’s because it wasn’t meant to be used that way. The blessing of the gift is showering the gift on others for their benefit.
Do I want to find the most excellent way? I should do all things with love, so He can be glorified.
Lord, show me how to use the gift that You have given me for Your glory! Help me to learn Your Most Excellent Way! Hallelujah! Amen.
