DAY 5: THE PROPHECY OF THE RIGHTEOUS KING: The Lord Our Righteous Savior
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called:The Lord Our Righteous Savior.”
Jeremiah 23:5–6
From the very beginning, God’s desire was to reign as King over His people. Humanity was created to live under His loving authority, yet we often seek other rulers: our own desires, ambitions, or the world’s approval. Israel made the same mistake when it demanded an earthly king, forgetting that the Lord was already their true King.
Through the prophet Jeremiah, God gave hope to His people in the midst of turmoil: a Righteous King would one day come from David’s line. This King would rule wisely, execute justice, and bring salvation to His people. That promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the Lord, Our Righteous Savior.
Jesus reigns not only over nations but over hearts. His kingdom is not built on power or politics but on righteousness, peace, and truth. In Him, we live securely; safe from condemnation and anchored in His eternal rule. Though the world constantly changes, His throne remains unshaken.
When I surrender to His reign, I find freedom, not restriction. Under His authority, I am protected, guided, and made righteous; not by my own goodness but through His perfect sacrifice.
Change is constant in this world, and it can feel unsettling. Yet this prophecy reminds me that Jesus’ kingdom is eternal. He reigns wisely, and His justice will prevail. Even when I don’t understand what’s happening around me, I can trust that He is in control.
Reflect:
Do I live each day as though Jesus truly reigns as King in my heart?
How can I express gratitude for His justice and righteousness today?
Lord, thank You for reigning as my Righteous King. When the world around me shifts and falters, Your throne remains secure. Help me to trust in Your justice and cling to Your righteousness. Let my heart overflow with praise for the hope I have in You—my King and my Savior. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
