Think About Whatever Is TRUE

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” John 14:6

Truth is not just something we believe. Truth is Someone we follow.

We live in a world that is constantly telling us what they think is true: what matters, what defines us, what we should fear, and what we should chase. Every day we are handed headlines, opinions, and news that compete for our attention. And if we are not careful, we begin to think that truth is flexible, and something we decide for ourselves.

But Jesus does not leave truth up for debate. He says plainly, “I am the Truth.”  That means truth is not just an obscure thought; it is a relationship to enter.  Truth walked among us. Truth spoke words of life. Truth went to the cross and rose again.

When Paul tells us to think about whatever is true, he is inviting me to anchor my mind in Jesus Christ Himself. Because when my thinking drifts away from Jesus, my perspective begins to wane. Where truth fades, fear begins.  Blame becomes a trend.  Shame fills the gaps where truth erodes.  And I begin to measure my worth by circumstances instead of the cross.

Truth reminds me who God is. Truth reminds me who I am. Truth reminds me where my hope actually rests. Jesus is true even when my emotions are unstable. He is true when the diagnosis is uncertain. He is true when the future feels unclear.

To think on what is true is to intentionally return my thoughts to Him until His voice becomes louder than the noise that the world makes. It is choosing to believe what God says even when everything else says otherwise.

And here’s the quiet gift of truth: it brings freedom. Freedom from fear. Freedom from striving. Freedom from carrying what was never mine to carry.

When I fix my mind on Jesus Christ, the Truth, I find myself standing on solid ground. Not because life is easy, but because my foundation is sure. So today, slow your thoughts. Gently bring your thoughts back to Jesus. And think about what is true.

Consider the following Reflection Questions:

  • What noise has been shaping my thinking lately more than God’s truth?

  • In what areas of my life do I need to return to Jesus as my definition of truth?

  • How do my thoughts change when I meditate on how Jesus Christ is unchanging and trustworthy?

Lord, thank You for showing me that You are the Truth.  I desire to meditate on Your Truth today.  Please cancel the noise in my mind that has been created by the world and fill it instead with Your thoughts and Your Truth.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
