1 Thessalonians 2:13-16

13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe. 14 For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own people the same things those churches suffered from the Jews 15 who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyone 16 in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.

I accept the Bible as the Word of God. If God spoke into the lives of people to write down His words, who am I to dispute God? Therefore, I desire to receive His Word, so that I can live according to it.

Once I receive Jesus into my heart, I desire to be an imitator of His church. I want to be able to please God in all that I do. He asks me to be hospitable to fellow believers, and to speak with unbelievers so they may be saved.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

I pray that I can be faithful to the Lord so that I can do what He wants. 2 Corinthians 5:15 says He doesn’t want me to live for myself, but to live for Him. By living for Him, I pray and listen to His Word so that I know what He wants me to do.

It is through Jesus that I receive strength to get through each day, and through His Word that I learn more about Him, so that I can tell others. I desire to deepen my relationship with the Lord, so that I can know when He speaks to me through His Word.

When I receive the Word of God, I thank Him continually, because the word is from Him and not from humans. This thankful spirit turns into continuous rejoicing to the Heavenly Father, allowing me to know Him even more intimately in my spirit.

I can’t help but think where I would be without God’s Word…I would be lost, confused and a total wreck! May the Lord bless me every time I read His Word, and may He bless others that I read His Word to.

Lord, thank You for the blessing of Your Word. I want to be so close to You when I read it. I know that the Bible is Your Word to me, and I thank You and praise You for it. Amen.

May you be blessed,
