Thursday: HOW TO PRAISE THE LORD

Lord, my heart's desire is to praise You. I imagine there must be a process You initiate in my heart which generates praise back to You. Can You share it with me?
Psalm 51:14-15 Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. I feel guilty about my sin. Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sin, and this brings anguish to my heart. When I recognize that Jesus came to deliver me from my sin, I worship Him as my Savior. This creates a chain reaction: When my heart is moved by His salvation, my tongue will sing of His righteousness. I can’t help but praise the Lord knowing He paid the debt that I owed for my sin. Realizing there is no way I could have ever paid the debt myself makes me even more thankful. I was destined to hell; God stepped in and changed my destiny. Therefore, when I open my lips, my mouth praises the Lord. THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: The Lord desires my praise, and I desire to give it. But do I understand how praising the Lord affects my heart? Praising the Lord helps me to forgive. If I have revenge on my heart, praising the Lord helps turn my words of anger into words of love. I’m not able to bless and curse at the same time; how much better it is to have words of blessing to the Lord reverberate from my mouth. Praising the Lord helps me to concentrate on God’s righteousness. If I have selfishness and self-righteousness in my heart, praising the Lord allows me to put my focus on God and take the focus off myself. Praising helps me to tell Him that He’s first in my life. Praising the Lord helps me to feel filled with God’s love. If I feel unloved, then praising the Lord helps me to tell Him that I love Him no matter what. The blessing will be that I feel Him returning His love to me as I praise Him. Praising the Lord helps to fill my heart with peace. If my heart is anxious or fearful, praising Him refocuses my heart. Then I can worship Him as sovereign and all-powerful over each of my problems.
Lord, please accept my praise to You today! May You be praised!
May you be blessed,
