Thursday: I WANT TO BE A LIGHT

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, 

righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

I used to walk around in the dark; as a lost soul I had no light. The Lord gave me hope and a promise to be a child of light; such a child produces fruit of goodness, righteousness and truth. If I test all the fruit I produce with these three things, I will learn what pleases the Lord.

Others may produce fruitless deeds of darkness, which cast a shadow over many to draw them into lies that rob them of purpose and identity. Even worse, those that have been deceived by these lies live in hopeless despair.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: If I have a flashlight, it’s my responsibility to keep the light on. Since the light of Jesus Christ lives within me, I desire to shine it brightly.

Shining the light of Jesus allows me to expose the corruption of darkness inside of the lives of others, so that they can see how fruitless deeds have led them astray and how they can have the light of Jesus also.

What was once dead can become alive when Christ shines His light. Every heart that is illuminated with the truth becomes a light, allowing one to see clearly.

By living as a child of light, my heart can be continually refreshed with God’s love. I don’t have to worry about keeping the light on…His eternal light will always be with me.

Lord, may Your light permeate my heart and allow my soul to be refreshed. I desire to shine Your light brightly so others can see You also. Amen.
