Matthew 7:7-12
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
In order to receive, I have to ask. In order to find, I have to seek, and in order to have the door opened, I have to knock. All of these have something in common—they all require action on my part.
These actions are also extraordinary because they describe my interaction and relationship with God.
My Father in heaven desires to give me good gifts, but He wants these gifts to be based on my relationship with Him, not as charity. I speak to Him and ask of Him through prayer, expecting to receive those things that He desires to give me.
Also, if I seek Him, I will find Him. Just as Jesus went about seeking the lost sheep in the parable, so I must make my search for a personal relationship with God my life’s mission until I find Him.
There are many doors of opportunity in this life and knowing which ones that God wants me to go through will depend on which doors He opens. He wants me to knock, or talk to Him, about each opportunity.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
The opportunity to talk to God about anything and everything gives me a distinct and purposeful blessing in life. If I’m looking for direction, He will give it to me. If I’m looking for provision, He will provide. If I’m looking for Him, He’s only a prayer away. God defines my actions, my motives and even my thoughts in my daily life. Through Him all blessings flow. From Him all needs are manifested. By Him, His will is accomplished.
Lord, thank You for the blessing of Yourself in my life. I look to You in awe and wonder, and ask, seek and knock so that I can receive, find and go through Your open doors. Amen.
May you be blessed,
