Psalm 119:17-32

Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.

You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.

I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word.

I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.

I have a new prayer, “God, please open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” I keep reminding myself that this earth is not my true home; heaven is. I’m a stranger here, so I’m bound to see strange things.

I don’t want to become arrogant, thinking I know everything. God’s Word is my counselor; His words inside the Bible are my guide.

The Lord is good to me, and I will obey His Word.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS

This world keeps pulling me down, so I call to the Lord, and He lifts me up. My soul is weary with sorrow due to my sin, yet the Lord strengthens me according to His Word.

I am tempted by deceitful ways, but God is gracious to me and teaches me His law. I choose the way of faithfulness by setting my heart on His laws.

I hold fast to the Lord’s statutes, so that I will not be put to shame. I run in the path of His commands, so He will broaden my understanding.

Lord, thank You for Your Word. I continue to learn from it, so I can walk in Your Ways. I am strengthened by it, get to know You better, and walk closer to You.

I rejoice in You today, Lord! Amen.

May you be blessed,
