Proverbs 11:7-11
Hopes placed in mortals die with them; all the promise of their power comes to nothing. The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead. With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors, but through knowledge the righteous escape. When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.
In Whom do I put my hope? If I place my hope in mortal men, my hope will die with them. They may promise power, but their power comes to nothing.
Meanwhile, the righteous person who puts his hope in God is rescued from trouble, and trouble falls on the wicked instead. The godless person destroys their neighbors just by speaking; it is through the knowledge of the Lord that the righteous escape this destruction.
The righteous will prosper in the Lord, and the angels rejoice along with the city that praises God. Those who are wicked and evil—those who live for themselves and not the Lord—they will perish—and the city rejoices because God has triumphed.
It is through the blessing of the upright upon the city, that a city is exalted in blessing, but the wicked who are without God want to destroy the city.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
There are only two places I can put my hope—in God and in men. My hope in God is founded on my faith. I know what God was with me yesterday, and I know He will be with me tomorrow. If I put my hope in men, however, my hope is lost. I cannot have faith in men in this way—all men in which I have put my trust have died. God, however, is eternal, and through His eternal nature my faith has life. Not just any life, but eternal life.
My faith in God reigns over my troubles, and His Lordship reigns over all the cities in all the nations—whether they know it or not. There will be a time that every knee will bow before the Eternal King—some will bow in reverence to their King, and some will bow because they realize that He should have been their King.
Lord, I trust in You as my King today, and put all my faith in You. Amen.
May you be blessed,
