TUESDAY: THE PURPOSE OF SCRIPTURE

Lord, O how I love Your Word! Teach me today the purpose of the Bible, and how I can use it in Your kingdom to glorify You.

2 Timothy 3:14-17

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I have a new word to motivate me in my day-to-day life: CONTINUE. If I continue what I have learned from the Lord and have become convinced of through His Word day after day, I will fulfill my purpose in life.

I know the Scriptures will make me wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, and through them, I will be transformed into a dedicated Christ-follower.

Scripture prepares me to meet life’s challenges. It is infused in me by my continual reading and study not only to change me, but to help me prepare others in the Kingdom of God.

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: The Apostle Paul states that all Scripture is God-breathed. That means God intended each word, verse, and chapter to make a difference in my life. I can receive this useful tool, and I can also give it away.

It is useful for teaching righteousness. Through regular, careful study, application of, and obedience to God’s Word, God imbeds it in me and changes me. I can share my learning with others.

Rebuking in righteousness. I need to heed its warnings and show others where God wants us to steer clear of certain behaviors and actions.

Correcting in righteousness. The Bible guides me back onto the right path, and I can use it to guide others also.

Training in righteousness. Just as a soldier needs to be prepared for battle, I need to be trained and train others with its teaching.

Lord, allow me to be taught, be rebuked, be corrected, and be trained by Your Word, just as You desire me to teach, rebuke, correct, and train others with Your Word.

May you be blessed,
