TUESDAY: WHAT’S NEW? A NEW LIFE

Romans 6:1-4
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
My old life was filled with sin—why would I want to continue to live that life anymore? Jesus died and rose again, so I can live. I definitely don’t want to live a life that caused so much pain any longer.
When I am saved, I should rejoice by getting baptized to show the world that my sinful life is buried with Jesus in His death, and I am raised again with Jesus to live a new life.
This new life brings new thoughts, new motives, and new actions into my mind, heart, and hands. All these bring glory to the Father; through Him my life is being restored forever.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
The Lord’s desire is for His grace to increase in my life. When I turn to Him daily and thank Him for His grace given to me, He allows me to experience His glory throughout my new life.
The Lord increases my desire to forsake the dead life I once knew and helps me experience a new life. The sins of my dead life will constantly tempt me to return to the life I once knew, but Jesus’ power strengthens me, so these sins are also washed away.
I thank God for the work of Jesus on the cross; through Him the work of salvation is complete. There is no more work to be done to achieve salvation; I accept the work that Christ has already done on the cross and believe He is God’s Son.
Lord, thank You for the new life You have given me. Help me to live this new life to the fullest for You. Amen.
May you be blessed,
