WAITING IN HIS TIMING

But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold (Psalm 106:13).
I wait for your salvation, LORD, and I follow your commands (Psalm 119:166).
I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope (Psalm 130:5).
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning (Psalm 130:6).
Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong! Wait for the LORD, and he will avenge you (Proverbs 20:22).
I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my trust in him (Isaiah 8:17).
As I sit and wait for the Lord, my mind plays some devious tricks on me. Sometimes I will begin planning what I’m going to do if the Lord doesn’t come through.
When I’m thinking and strategizing about these plans that I have, I won’t be thinking about the Lord or what He has done in my life. I will gravitate towards thinking of all the things that He hasn’t done yet and begin to throw myself a party—a pity party, that is.
I’ll begin thinking about how I can pay others back for the wrong that they have done to me. If these are my thoughts, I won’t be thinking of God as my Avenger.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: The Lord says He will never leave me (Hebrews 13:5) and I believe Him. If I’m truly waiting on the Lord, then I should understand what I’m waiting for.
I’m not waiting for material things; I’m waiting for salvation. The Lord will move in my heart to create Divine answers to my heart problems, not earthly ones.
I’m not waiting in hopelessness; I put my hope in the Lord. The Lord asks me to wait for Him with my whole being, not half-heartedly.
I’m not waiting for my plans; I’m waiting for the Lord to shine His countenance on His plans.
The Lord asks me to be diligent in praising Him with rejoicing and thanksgiving while I’m waiting for Him to shine His face on my heart.
Lord, may I not be trapped into thinking that I need to help You to achieve Your plans, but direct my heart to the places that will allow me to see where you are at work. Amen!
