WALKING WITHOUT FEAR (Wednesday)

Psalm 62:1-7
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken. How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down—this leaning wall, this tottering fence? Surely, they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
I am searching for a place to rest. I look high for a rock but end up against a leaning wall or a tottering fence, which throws me down. Instead of looking for resting place, I realize that I only find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. The reason I am looking for rest is because I am running, and I’m running because I am afraid. What would life look like if I chose to give up being afraid? I can surrender my fear when I realize:
He is my Rock: Through His strength, I will no longer be afraid.
He is my Salvation: Because He has saved me, He will guide me along life’s journey.
He is my Fortress: Because He lives in me, He will protect me from the things I fear.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS: I will be assaulted as long as I am afraid. When I realize the One who has overcome the world (1 John 4:4) is watching over me, I will surrender my fear to Him and step out in faith onto the path of the righteous.
I don’t have to worry about what fear has caused me to miss out on; I only have to see that I will be blessed wherever God leads me. While I am blessed by the destination (heaven), I am also blessed by the journey (life). The blessing comes by knowing I’m doing life with Jesus and for God, and through faith His Holy Spirit dwells in me.
I can’t bear to think what life would be like without Him. And for that reason alone, I surrender my fear to Him. I give up fear for Him because Jesus gave His life for me. He knew what was ahead for Him and did it anyway; I don’t know what is ahead for me, but trust in Him to lead me.
Lord, I am thankful You are with me. Help me to see You have already prepared me for whatever I am afraid of today. You are my Rock, my Salvation and My Fortress, and I will not let fear topple me; I will walk with You through all my fears. Amen.
May you be blessed,
