WEDNESDAY: FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Lord, all I want is to know what to do to please You. I’m tired of being fooled by the instructions of this world, which are very deceiving.

2 Thessalonians 1:11-2:4

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

The calling I have is not my own. God calls me to Himself and proclaims His truth. I have faith in Him, and through faith I seek to know Him more. Through faith, He reveals His purpose for me. By His power, I seek His guidance on every act prompted by my faith. I pray I find value in His calling, and every act is prompted by the Spirit. His power always fulfills His purpose. The outcome I receive in answer to this prayer is that the name of Jesus is glorified in me according to the grace of God.

Some will come to make me unsettled and alarmed. In fact, one is coming who opposes everything God stands for. He will proclaim himself to be God. I need to be on my guard and measure what people say by what the Bible says.
