WEDNESDAY: My Hope Is His Unfailing Love

Those who look to him [the Lord] for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. Psalm 34:5

I will never be ashamed of looking to God for help. I will never be ashamed of praying and asking God to move, even if He doesn’t do what I hoped He would do. Even if other people wonder why I bother to pray. Recent experiences brought one confusing disappointment after another and yet there was peace, and I found the phrase, “my hope in You is not in vain,” expressing itself in a song from my heart.

And I realized why. I don’t hope in the Lord simply because He has the power to give me what I want. My hope is in the nature of the One I hope in. He is good, righteous, wise, just, merciful, compassionate, loving, faithful, and trustworthy. My hope is in who He is and always will be. My hope is in His unfailing love. Whether or not I always get what I want, I will not be ashamed of hoping in Him.

In every circumstance, may your hope in the Lord shine forth, radiating peace and joy.
