WEDNESDAY: WHY AM I THIRSTY?

Psalm 42:1-7
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night,
While they continually say to me, “Where is your God?”
When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise,
With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.
O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan,
And from the heights of Hermon, from the Hill Mizar. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.
My soul is very thirsty. My soul pants for God like a deer pants for water. I desire to drink Living Water from His Word. I therefore pant before the King, the Holy One from which the spring of Living Water flows.
I’ve been crying a lot, as my tears have been my food all day and all night. Through my tears flow streams of doubt, as they question me, “Where is your God?”
God answers my tears and prompts me to remember things He has done and things I used to do, and I pour out my soul within me. I used to go with the multitude to the house of God, singing with joy and praise.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
What has changed? Why is my soul cast down and disquieted within me? I want to hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.
When I remember Him, He reminds me who He is. He comes to me and lifts me up, allowing me to see Him in all His glory. My heart rejoices in His Name, blessing me and showing me that my soul is no longer thirsty; my heart is no longer cast down.
Lord, thank You for lifting me up in the midst of turmoil. Help me to remember that You are always with me. Amen.
May you be blessed,
