1 Peter 1:22-25
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
My soul had been tarnished by sin because of my sin nature and propensity to sin. When I heard the truth of God’s redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ, I obeyed Him and put my faith and trust in Him. God sent the Holy Spirit into my heart, and through the Spirit I obey His truth. God has purified my soul through this obedience that the Spirit created in my life.
The Word of God is also a powerful force and gift of God. God gave His Word which lives and abides forever. Through His Word, God shows me how to love one another fervently with a pure heart, which He has made born again.
The original seed of sin was corruptible. God redeemed me through the blood of Jesus Christ. I know His seed is incorruptible—God knows no sin in Himself. God placed His Holy Spirit inside me to show that I am His, and nothing and no one can take me away from Him.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
The Word of God is incorruptible, and this Word was preached to me. The Word of God endures forever, guaranteeing His promises are true. Through Him, hope abounds in the midst of a fallen world.
In this world, grass withers and its flower falls away, but the Word of the Lord endures forever. How long is forever? Forever is beyond my human comprehension. Everything I know on this earth has a limited lifespan. God, however, is forever, and He created the opportunity for me to live forever with Him.
The Word of God reveals the gospel of Jesus Christ. God knows me, and He wanted me to know Him. I was separated from God because of sin. God sent Jesus to die for me and to rise from the dead, so my sin could be forgiven. When I place my faith and trust in Jesus Christ, He forgives my sin and sends me the Holy Spirit as a deposit for my eternal life with Him in heaven.
Lord, thank You for Your Word which contains the gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your Word bless the heart of everyone who hears it. Amen.
May you be blessed,
