Ephesians 4:20-24
That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
I learned to live a wrong way of life. When I heard about Jesus Christ, He taught me the truth that is in Him.
Jesus taught me to put off my old self and my former ways, which were corrupted by deceitful desires.
Jesus made me new in the attitude of my mind. Through Him, I can put on my new self, created to be like Him in true righteousness and holiness.
THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS
Since I have a bad attitude, I can change it, but I can’t do it alone. Only Jesus can give me a new attitude, one that is not corrupted by desires that deceive me.
God has a gift for me: He wants to make me like His Son, Jesus Christ. In order to do that, He has to refresh my mind and cleanse my heart. Then, He can pour in His true righteousness and holiness into my life.
I will learn to live this new life in accordance with the Truth, who is Jesus Christ. Through His Truth I will be made pure and holy, and through His grace and love I will reflect His righteousness.
In order to change, I will need to hate unrighteousness and sin, and desire all signs of them to be removed from my heart. Then, Jesus can wash these from my life and put His desires and love in my heart.
Lord, I can’t wait to see my new life develop, as You move in my mind to give me a new attitude, and You move in my heart to fill it with Your love, so that I can share it with others. Amen.
