WHAT'S NEW? A NEW LETTER

2 Corinthians 3:1-6 

Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you?  You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.  You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.  Such confidence we have through Christ before God.  Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.  He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 

When I apply for a new position, I need a letter of recommendation.  Today I learn that I am a letter of recommendation from Jesus Christ.  Jesus wrote a letter on my heart to the world around me. 

This letter was not written with ink, but with the Holy Spirit, on the tablet of my heart. 

This letter on my heart makes me competent in God to change my life and the lives of others around me.   

THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS 

God has pronounced me as a minister of a new covenant—a promise from Him to me.  This promise is assured through the Holy Spirit in my heart and gives me eternal life. 

Most jobs measure performance, but my new role is dependent on my confidence in Jesus Christ to work in my heart. 

The letter that Jesus Christ wrote in me is for me to deliver to others.  I am not the Author, and I’m not even the postman—I am the letter itself, from God the Father, written by Jesus Christ with the ink of the Holy Spirit.  Am I ready to have others read this letter? 

Lord, thank You for showing me who I am.  I am a letter from You, ready to be delivered to the world around me.  Please give others the confidence to read Your letter.  Amen.
